You don't know it's destroyed yet...
ReplyDeleteThe worst times are those first few hours/days/canvases when I haven't painted for awhile. Until I remember what I used to do, try that and feel nauseated, and then keep going until there is an inking of something interesting. It's waiting and pushing and staying. It's that layering of lessons and history that make painting so rich.
Just turning on the lights and trying to get the dried paint out of the tube is a victory. An you actually painted.
yeh, don't throw it away. wrestling is good. and the studio, the painting, and the thoughts--- inspire me.
ReplyDeletedylan was in town last week---pete went & couldn't hear any of the lyrics but loved it anyway. he had all of dylan's early albums and somewhere along the way we became custodians of a stereo way beyond our understanding and fearing what our scratchy records might do to it, i talked pete into getting rid of all the old albums we had hanging around,
some things bear thinking about.
Wrestling seems apt. And of course, you would mistrust it if it came easily. Just pat yourself on the back that you got down there, turned on the music and then picked up the brush. Or did you do that with your fingers????
