rework

worked on last week's mess.  it was a good ground to start painting on, as i had hoped.  kind of an ethereal foggy background.  made some marks but after looking at it for a while i wasn't happy and smooshed it all out again.

i was going to stop for the day, chalking it up as another "lesson", but then i decided to power through it.  started coloring big patches in.  still conversing with nature.  trying so hard to boil it down.  glad i did.  it was a good session.

  1. What a change! I love the block of blue. It's like these pieces become beacons for whoever we happen to be on that particular day, in those moments, we're painting. This piece, as it rests so far, is in a different place, reflecting a bandwidth of emotion and self, distinct from where this piece was last week. That's one of the things that fascinates me so much about making art. It's capacity to evidence and reflect. Glad you're reminding us, too, Dave, about not being afraid to return, rework, try to see things differently.
